Hello!
An interesting case here. I added the suggested script contents to my
configure bootstrap script that Roger suggested, (see the discussions
on the main Hercules list from 10 AM EDT to 12PM EDT today). And on my
Linux system I promptly build the SVN as of then, and tried it.
("then" meaning during the 10AM to 11AM area) and attempted to do the
usual steps for bringing up my system. It seems that the problem is
still there.

I am now re-building 3.07 from code downloaded earlier, and with that
script as part of its contents. Same as for my Cygwin1.7.5, and of
course I'll keep going with it from there.
