Hi all,
There is new version on the down load site.
Several major enhancements
Comes in two flavors -
The full development scenario with all the sources macro libraries listings
etc.
The end user environment- Module and a couple of EXECS - all that is
necessary to run the application.
Only thing missing from that environment is the directory.
YOu can download it to any disk in any user (including maint) change the
Filedef for sixpack directory and it should work. I dumped it as is to the
MAINT machines "A" disk and it worked with the real SIXPack directory.
There is another filedef there for a msgtable (alsp on the tape) but I
downloaded that to the "A" disk as well so it works with that filedef.
Just one caveat - Needs to run in BC mode so in MAINT you may have to do a
set ecmode off first.
then I CMS.
Mike Stamba has put together some documentation (Thanks Mike) which covers
most of the highpoints.
But no kidding this is a real editor - very useful and runs in Vanilla VM370

GCIC Browser / Editor (Aug 23 2010)
GCIC is a full screen editor for VM370/r6, that uses the DIAL facility
of CP, to peform full screen editng and browsing of CMS files.

1. Installing the application on Hercules 390 / VM370r6.
- Copy the distribution tape to your Hercules VM 'tape' directory
- Use the Hercules DEVINIT command and the CP/CMS ATTACH and VMFPLC2
commands to load the tape on the desired user's A disk
** The system requires minimal amounts of minidisk storage ***
For the end user version:
One Module and one message file
and A copy of your VM Directory or a dummy directory and
few small execs.
For development and source verision there are ten Assembler sources +
related Listings and text members
and a MACLIB (all together less than 40 CYL)
** The user Machine requires only G command level authority .
** It comes up farily quickly so you can run it in your own User
machine with a link to the origram disk or run it in a separate machine
** Can support up to 20 Terminals - Simultaneously and each terminal
can be in two separate sessions - Total 40 Sessions
** For editing that is quite a lot of storage depending on the
progams being editied - Suggest a 15M machine for maximum edit
functionality
( for a single user and normal sized programs or file a lot less
will suffice. Suggest a minimum of 8M )
** machine must be in BC mode (SET ECMODE OFF - if it is on)
** I run the server application in the CMSUSER MACHINE and a
separate copy in MAINT for system development - Comes up very quicky.

2. Running the application
EXecute the RUNGCIC (PROFILE) EXEC file to start the GCIC monitor.
GCIC will then issue a CP DISCON(ect), continuing to run in the
background. Be sure to set the two FILDEFS to your reqwuirements -
a) the copy of the directory that you want to use
b) the included message file
From any connected 3270 emulator (including the one you started
GCIC from), issue a DIAL <VM-USER-WHERE-GCIC-WAS-INSTALLED>,
E.G. DIAL CMSUSER
You should then be greeted by the GCIC Logon screen :

By default GCIC uses a 'dummy' SIXPACK DIRECT (FM) directory to
authenticate logons.
The FILEDEF in the PROFILE EXEC (on the GCIC tape) points to
the location of the directory file that GCIC will use.

Most of the above should be self explanatory.
PF9 (SWAP) will switch to a second GFLIST/edit browse screen
The SWAP function can be used to cut / paste between two
editing sessions. Is is further explained below in the
EDITOR commands.

SWAP and PASTE functions.
The SWAP (F9) (command line cmd), is used to switch between the
current editing session, and a second GFLIST / EDIT session
After switching to the other session, the 'C' or 'CC' prefix area
commands can be used to mark a block of lines to be copied.
After marking the lines in the source / second editing session,
press F9 (or enter SWAP on the command line), to return to the
destination editing session. Use the 'F/P' prefix command to mark
the copy destination, then enter PASTE on the editor command line.

The application support up to 20 USERS simultaneously (grafs)
each users has two separate sessions
The only limitation(s) are storage capacity whihc is governed by the size
and type of files.
We suggest using the MAX or 15M
