Thats more of the initialization part - which is useful but we can see most of that right on the screen right at the start.
But I'll use that as the check list when I actually to start to write the code.
 
that seems to explain More or less the parameters that are passed to the IND$FILE on the command line.
 
I am looking at the C code --- 
Started off with the CUT version because that is probably the easiest to understand. (and I am out of practice in "C")
 
The Header  file FT_CUT-DS.H seems to have most of the information about the first 6 bytes that I will need
 
Still don;t see where or how the check sum is calculated but i will get there.
Any "C" gurus who want to take a gander and point me ito the right place I'll be happy

Does anybody have access to any documentation about IND$FILE?

Now that we have a Full-screen application in VM/370 we have the necessary base to write our version of IND$FILE.

This is classified by IBM as confidential material, but since every 3270 emulator has a working version there must be something written somewhere.

About thirty years ago when I was writing emulators I remember that we reverse enginered - Well not exactly, but we worked from traces to figure out what it was doing. There are really only SIX bytes of control information on the screen. Some of it must be a CRC character

I spent a few days looking for the old "C" sources for that emulator but I can't find File transfer routines. 

Probably left on some computer that I junked while travelling on foreign assignments.

Would save a lot of time if anynody can point to anything - either on the MF side or the PC side that has some information.
