All the I/O was performed by CPIO (in some way a precursor of Hercules); the minidisks where plain PC files, seen by VM/PC as FBA DASDs (BTW I can access them with Hercules and VM/SP). The version of VM/PC I own is based on VM/SP3; not sure about following versions. I discovered Hercules in September 2006 (looking for VMWARE appliances) and I had the insane idea to run VM/PC under Hercules. The first step was to run only the CMS component of VM/PC but VM/370 didn't support FBA devices (and EDF CMS disks as well). In November 2008 I tried to run the CMS of VM/PC under the CP of VM/SP but it used some unfamiliar (and not documented) DIAGNOSE, so, after a pair of weeks of efforts, I decided to give up. Regards.
