They are just the normal DIAGs so I don't believe there isn't a list any where. I think the main one is for disk i/o but you could do a PER TRACE of the IPL to see what actually happens. I guess CMS will IPL without some DIAGs but then other commands would fail. Is there a list of these DIAGs anyplace? According to Melinda Varian's paper VM and the VM Community: Past, Present, and Future the SIO in CMS was replaced by Diagnose in release 3.1 of CP/67 http://www.princeton.edu/~melinda/25paper.pdf Look at page 25 Of course it would be possible to add the necessary DIAGS to Hercules... For anyone interested in the history of VM its a very interesting read. Laddie Hanus --- In [email protected], "Dave Wade" <mailto:g4ugm@...> <g4ugm@...> wrote: Sorry I meant no CP... In the version of CMS/CP in the sixpack, can CMS be run as the sole OS, non virtualized? Or by this date was it dependent on CP? As it uses DIAG to perform disk i/o it won't run on "bare metal". However it may be interesting to note that the XT/370 and AT/3270 machines ran basically the same CMS as SP4 on a system with no CMS....
