The short answer is no. z/VM 6.1 requires the PFPO feature. The Hercules implementation of this feature is incomplete and not enabled. The message referenced below provides the path to a local solution to the problem. The solution requires a local change to the Hercules source code and a local build of Hercules. The PFPO feature relates to floating point operations. No evidence exists that the absence of this feature will impair z/VM 6.1 operation once the check for the feature is overcome during the initialization process. There has been much discussion about this issue on the developer's list. The consensus there is to only enable the STFLE bit setting in Hercules when the implementation of the PFPO feature is complete.
