Actually, OS/VS2 was the first release of OS that supported multiple virtual
storage spaces. Prior to that was SVS, or Single Virtual Storage (OS/VS1).

Everything that is known today as z/os, mvs, etc. has its roots in OS/VS2.

Ok, it will be interesting to see what SVCs
are used in the above. Or even what filename.

There's no need to look for that for me, if
that's what you're doing. I already have what
I need for that. What I don't have is an
editor.

Here are some:

MVS was apparently called OSVS2 by some heathens:

http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/ibm/370/OS_VS2/

Bearing in mind that you can write in C on
MVS 3.8j, it means that the C library has been
implemented, which means that most things that
you would say "well how would I normally do
that in C", have a ready-made answer:

http://pdos.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pdos/pdos/pdpclib/mvssupa.asm?view=markup

Also remember that most of the MVS source code
is available, so grepping that can often provide
clues.
