I tried your sintax:

 cd "./hal"

and

 cd "c:./hal"

Both command are working; nevertheless I'll continue to use:

cd\hal

instead of

cd "./hal"

only for simplicity ....;-)

The conclusion is: "FISH IS THE GREATEST" ;-)
