RE: Help with z/VM 5.3 Evaluation Edition

I downloaded all the manuals I thought I'd need, including:

SC24-6135-03 zVM V5R3.0 Directory Maintenance Facility Tailoring and
Administration Guide
SC24-6133-04 zVM V5R3.0 Directory Maintenance Facility Commands Reference
GC24-6134-03 zVM V5R3.0 Directory Maintenance Facility Messages

But I'm not about to wade through 250+ pages of DIRMAINT commands just to
figure out how to add a fricking user.

In the old days all you'd do is edit the USER DIRECT and issue the DIRECT
command and voila! Done!

This DIRMAINT stuff is new to me and I'm completely lost!

I need some sort of "Newbie's Tutorial" or something. An example session
that walks me through step by step how to do it.

Is there such a thing? I googled but couldn't find anything.

This is so frustrating! I know what I need to do!

But this "New and Improved!" DIRMAINT way of doing things, while certainly
new, is most definitely NOT improved. (*)
