Carey Evans did the Debian packaging for tn5250 -
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=tn5250 - I'm not sure if
he's still subbed to this list. Ubuntu have it in universe, which is
generally packages pulled straight in from Debian, but I don't know
how soon a new version would take to make the transition.

I use a mix of Debian & Ubuntu systems but I've always built
tn5250/xt5250 (and more recently x5250) from source as that was the
only way to get it when I started using it - nearly 10 years ago!
