That got a little mangled.  It might be better to download the patch from:

Note that this fixes the crash but a problem remains.  x5250 retrieves the 
data to be pasted using XGetWindowProperty().  For some reason 
XGetWindowProperty() returns an empty list from gvim, yet still returns 
successfully.  That means that x5250 no longer crashes, but it also 
doesn't paste any text from gvim using the Edit->Copy method.  The normal 
unix way of left button highlight and middle button paste still works.

Sean, what happens when you do Edit->Copy and then middle button into 
xterm?  When I do that xterm doesn't paste the Edit->Copy buffer, but 
rather whatever I had previously highlighted with the left mouse button. 
x5250 is now doing the same thing that xterm does for me with this patch.
