Yes to both.  I waited a few minutes to make sure it wasn't just a network delay.

I've seen it briefly before as you describe.  I don't know that I've ever tried to run it on another computer before yesterday.

Eek.  Let me qualify by saying (what was implied by that last comment) that I've regularly installed and upgraded it on the computers I use with GUI.  The server in question has been headless for a long time...

$ x5250 --version
x5250 version:  0.4.6

$ tn5250 -version
tn5250 0.17.1

Maybe I should try something current first :)
