Re: Host-based printing in linux

Currently, the vast majority of our printers are "Workgroup" printers. There
are a few that do not have network interfaces and connect through USB or
parallel cables. On the other hand, I do have an extra Netgear print server
box that I bought awhile back, and never got around to using. This seems
like an ideal use for that. :-)

I've never successfully set up a printer in linux, and I'd rather not try to
do it now. :-) I did try, unsuccessfully, to set up a printer on my wife's
XP box on my Fedora box awhile back, but never could get it to work. :-(

That being said, I don't print that much, so it's not a huge headache to
either scp from linux to windows or forward a document via email. :-)

how do your laser printers  are connected? Parallel port, usb?
Of course if you have a Laser Printer you may don't need to have a "extra" 
Windows or Linux pc, but if you have some "spare" laser printers without Lan

Card, and them are supported by CUPS,  you can connect them to linux and 
lp5250d (better via USB  port :-).
