Sounds interesting!  For what it's worth, tn5250 compiles as-is under
Windows 98 - Windows 7.  I know: I've been doing it for many years :-)
I've used Mingw and Cygwin to compile and had success with both.

Will you try to keep the current project in sync with yours, or is this
a more or less permanent fork?
