It's a curse of our times that everyone expects everything that
matters, particularly in the computer field, to be known to Google.
Anything not found therein is deemed not to exist.

Try looking for anything on the BUFF40 FORTRAN compiler that I posted
here a few years ago. The authors' names are not known, and compiler
is mentioned in one or two blog postings, and by now the Hercules list
postings are probably indexed. Most of the hits on BUFF40 are actually
for a line of C code "char buff[40];". That's it, for a compiler that
was used at quite a few universities and high schools in the late
1960s and early 1970s.

For another egregious example, look for "chuck forney" and HASP. There
are only three relevant hits, for a guy whose SHARE sessions attracted
many hundreds of attendees twice a year over many years.
