While I agree that IBM is definitely making a market for java, the diversity
isn't the necessarily the direct result of big blue.  Sure, they have a jvm,
a wickedly fast java compiler, and contributed various technologies, but they
aren't the only players.  My point is that had sun GPLed the JDK/JRE, I don't
think it would be nearly as accepted as it is now.

Well, I don't care too much as I run solaris :)   But if you run linux and want
diversity, this is one of the reasons you don't....
