Truly free (i.e. MIT or BSD) licensing restricts neither one's freedom to
use the source nor one's freedom to execute the resulting code. It is
the licensing that should still be used for WINE.

Unfortunately, Codeweavers appears to have forced the GPL on this community --
either because it realized that its business model was not viable and was
grasping irrationally at straws, or because one of its primary investors,
John Gilmore, insisted upon it. (Perhaps Gilmore threatened to pull out
his cash if they did not go to a viral license.) In any event, they have
made WINE un-free by using the FSF's confiscatory, viral license.
