Horizons on WineX

Hello,

    I've been in contact with the Developers of Horizons concerning how 
it runs on WineX.  Their launcher/patcher is exclusively IE .ocx 
controls but you can actually pass command line options to the game .exe 
file at start to connect as demonstrated by someone named Simon on the 
Horizons transgaming page.  The updaterhowever is not so tricky.   
Basically it downloads a master_file_list file from a server via http 
and then goes through the contents of the file scanning the 
datetime/filesize and crc of the file.  If it does not pass those three 
tests a replacement/update is downloaded from the server once again via 
http.  There is also somewhere in that file that tells what files need 
to be removed becuase they're no longer needed (I forgot to ask the devs 
but will monday when we find the secret of the 18 digit timestamp since 
I'm unsure of it's encoding)

I would like to work with others that have Horizons to see about getting 
the game working with a Linux based patch script and launcher script.  
Also I'd like to work with the WineX dev's to resolve installer issues.  
I'm currently compiling the cvs version that is "supposed" to allow the 
game to install.  However simon had gotten the game going on a cvs from 
December IIRC and those features might have been in 3.3 but the 
installer crashes after I tell it where to install the game.

Here are the good things I've been told by simon's work and confirmed by 
dev's.  Horizons actually runs better on Linux lol!

So others and Devs can we take a quick look at what the issue is without 
a vote?  I've been a paying subscriber for nearly a year now and feel 
these small issues is worth the time it would take which should not be 
much at all.  I'm more concerned with the installer bug vs any other 
problems at the moment though since it would impede joe linux user from 
installing it.
