i found that postal 2 is in your game database, and it's rated 1 because it can't get past the main menu. i have found a way to solve that problem. there is an opengl frontend availible that was not shipped with the game itself. you can get it on the following url: http://www.gopostal.com/support/postal2/opengl.htm once installed the game runs almost flawless. ( there are some sound issues, but setting sound in "compatibility mode" seems to solve most of it ) i'd say it should be rated 3 or 4 if you use opengl. ( 3 because the installer does not work and you have to copy the game from your windows installation. ) if you would want a screeny of the game in linux then tell me where to send it and i will. good luck with wineX Mark Hannessen On Monday 30 June 2003 20:38, you wrote: > hi there > > for those of you that don't know, postal 2 is a "psycho 3d shooter" using > the unreal2 engine. for a long time i was not able to get it running until > i noticed that there was an opengl frontend availible for it. > > postal 2 is really running great in opengl mode, i only had a few minor > issues in getting it running: > > 1: the installer appears to use winrar for unpacking the data files, but > winrar did not work as it should be on my system so i had to copy the > installation from windows. > > 2: i had to download the opengl frontend from > > > ( make sure to use one resolution for both the scissors > intro, the menu and the game, this can be edited in Postal2.ini ) > > 3. i had to minimize the KDE Kicker because it stayed on top of wine. > > after this the game is running almost perfect. > i get a zillion of these warnings, be they do not appear to harm the game: > > fixme:imm:ImmAssociateContext (0x10026, 0x68036828): semi-stub > fixme:imm:ImmGetDefaultIMEWnd (0x10026): semi-stub > fixme:imm:ImmGetContext (0x10026): stub > > but the game was fully playeble to the end. > > i tested it on an AMD XP2200 with 512MB memory and a Geforce4 Ti 4200 > 128MB ) > > hope this is usefull to someone, happy shooting everybody! > > Mark Hannessen ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
