I think you misunderstood Bernhard. Let me rephrase:

gnupg-1.3.92 builds gpg.
gnupg-1.9.x builds gpg2.
gpg and gpg2 can coexist.

So you should install gnupg-1.3.x (or the latest gnupg-1.2.x) and 
gnupg-1.9.x. On the command line you should only use gpg. gpg2 is 
currently only used by the Aegypten2 stuff.
