This makes me very happy to hear, we need to switch the default backend that currently is bdb

I was reading over your implementation when I got the mail and have some generic questions

- is mdb thread-safe ?
- can it handle multiple (processes) readers/writers ?
- mdb_get documentation doesn't mention the lifetime of the memory return, valid during the transaction ?
