I did much of my early smart card development on Solaris workstations until Oracle dropped Solaris workstations. Never followed up on how much of the "Third-party Hardware and Software pluggable tokens" in Userland" were also implemented in the "Third-party Hardware crypto providers" in "Kernel" -- Douglas E.
