I wouldn't necessarily count this as an objection, but Arla HEAD seems to use it exactly once on NetBSD (or maybe that's Darwin, as Arla HEAD is broken on NetBSD-current ATM). I'm not familiar w/ this enough to know if it's absolutely necessary. I do also see that Arla 0.44, the latest release to sort-of support recent (netbsd-4) NetBSD doesn't use it at all, but block-caching has been added to Arla since then. Jonathan Kollasch P.S. I haven't stepped up to port Arla-HEAD to -current yet. Nor have I devoted my share of effort to porting OpenAFS. Oh well.
