Hello,

First of all, thank you for a great product.

I've been using avfs for a while now and one inconvenience keeps coming
up for me.
Basically, I have many backup tar.gz file over 30 GB in size and when I
want to access these files with avfs an index is generated in order to
seek inside the archive. This is fine, but this process takes place each
time avfs is reloaded (mostly after a restart) which causes considerable
loss of time and wasted cpu cycles.

So I would like to request a feature that would allow index files to be
kept beside archive files until I want to delete them manually. In
addition these file should be loaded automatically by avfs when I try to
open an archive that already has an index file present.

  Thanks in advance.
