It is possible to do so with debugfs and the "ssv" command I believe.
This would invalidate all existing htree directories, so you'd need 
to run "e2fsck -fD" on the filesystem.

I'd only suggest doing this on a test filesystem, I don't know if there
are any unforseen consequences.
