I ran some rough performance tests between 1.2.10 and 1.3.73 on
argos.mit.edu. argos is a dual opteron64 box with 2gb ram; 100MHz
networking; and fast scsi drives. The cell used was athena.mit.edu.

The system was configured to use a 200MB cache and no MTU constraints.
The test is a simple one involving copies of a 170MB file to and from
the cell with a "fs flush" command executed before each operation.

The resulting numbers are really rough but they do provide a good
indication of the performance improvements which have been acheived
in the last year.

                  1.2.10 1.3.73 improvement
               ------------ ------------ -----------

read/crypt 1.497 MB/sec 2.897 MB/sec 93.5%

write/clear 2.927 MB/sec 7.123 MB/sec 143.4%
