You cannot disable the creation of submounts. I will probably remove the use of submounts in a future build. I recommend that users not specify submount names when mapping drives. They are not required. The problem with USB sticks is a problem with Windows not OpenAFS. Please file a bug report with Microsoft. If a drive letter is in use by Windows, Windows should not re-use the drive letter for another device.
