Since January this list has been very quiet. This because of the
large amount of energy that has been focused on solving a large number
of issues in the AFS file server related to mobile clients and thread
safety. OpenAFS release 1.4.1 was tagged on April 9th and should be
publicly announced in the next few days. It takes time for the
UNIX/Linux install packages to be produced and collected.

In mid February, 1.5.0 was released. Today's daily builds are a
pre-1.5.1 release. They include all of the functionality that has
gone into 1.4.1 plus the following:

* 64-bit Windows support

  - MSI installers provided for pure-64-bit OpenAFS installation

  - MSI installers provided for 32-bit command line tools and libraries
for use with 32-bit versions of MIT Kerberos for Windows.

* Client allocated byte range locking now utilizes server allocated
full locks. If the server cannot allocate a read lock due to an
access violation and the client only has "rl" privileges, then the
client will locally grant the lock.

* Event log message text resources are now provided.

* DebugOutputString debugging of the RX library is now supported

* Additional optimizations were implemented in the encryption routines
and in the management of various SMB data structures.

* Transitions into and out of fs crypt mode are now logged to the
  Windows Event log

* Registry values now allow the defaults daemon check periods to be
  altered.

   daemonCheckDownInterval
   daemonCheckUpInterval
   daemonCheckVolInterval
   daemonCheckCBInterval
   daemonCheckLockInterval
   daemonCheckTokenInterval
