OpenAFS for Windows 1.4 status report

We are getting closer to a 1.4 release but there is still much which remains
to be done.  The following is a rough list of items which I consider 
desirable
for the 1.4 release.

* Terminal Server safety

* Freelance (dynamic root) mode support for R/W volumes

* Redesign the UI for afs_config.exe and break it into two
   parts.  One which will become an Administrator's tool for
   configuring the AFS Client Service and Integrated Logon. 
   The other which will be a user tool for configuring the
   behavior of afscreds.exe and per user drive mappings.

* Persistent cache support

* Large (> 2GB) file support

* Test and fix as needed all of the fs.exe commands

* Improvements to the NSIS installer (integrate KFW and Loopback 
installation)

* Addition of an MSI installer  (MIT is working on this)

* Migrate all config files other than afsdcell.ini to the registry.

* Support the use of %WINDIR%\System32\Drivers\Etc\CellServDB as an
   alternate location for afsdcell.ini

*  Support for the XP SP2 firewall (automatically open ports for callbacks)

*  Implement synchronized thread starting and stopping (necessary for 
persistent cache)

* Write documentation

As you can see this is still a very long list.   Any assistance which 
can be provided will
be appreciated.  Thanks to the small number of individuals and 
organizations which
have contributed.  The entire community thanks you for the progress I 
have been able
to make with your help.
