I disagree.  hedgepiggy has been repeating his question for close to
a month now.  He is examining the source code of the currently
distributed OpenAFS releases.  These releases do not utilize a kernel
mode driver.

The openafs-windows-kdfs-ifs-branch is not a production ready code
base.  There are still several architectural design flaws that need
to be addressed before it can be made available to the general public
for testing.  These are documented in the OpenAFS RT.

When the KDFS code base is ready for use the AFS cache manager will
be shared by both an AFS specific kernel mode driver "afsredir.sys"
and the AFS SMB Server that is used today.  It will be possible to
enable either or both of the interfaces simultaneously.  Users that
are dependent on Windows SMB redirector behaviors will be able to
maintain the use of that interface whereas those interested in a
tighter integration of the AFS cache manager and the Windows Cache
Manager can use the native kernel interface.
