Visual Studio 2005 is still available with an MSDN license. As far as I am aware the 1.5.6x code base does build with Visual Studio 2008. Visual Studio 2005 is used for all OpenAFS builds because Visual Studio 2008 is incompatible with the SDKs necessary to support Windows 2000. Although significant work has been performed on the native client since March, none of the new code is available in the repository. The code in the repository has some architectural flaws that required a nearly complete rewrite. Jeffrey Altman
