Before you go to the trouble of taking a packet trace, 
could you please tell us what your client (afsd) startup parms are?

If you have not specified -afsdb, that could explain the hang.

However, if you have specified -afsdb, it's possible that the AfsdbLookupHandler
failed for some reason, because I don't see it in your previous journalctl output.
If so, could you check back further in your logs, all the way back to the last time
you restarted the client, and see if you can find any log messages related to DNS 
and or AFSDB?
