Query regarding GSOC project

Hey I am Akshika , I am a 3rd year Btech Student and have been into network
security research for some time now.  I am very  keen to work on the GSOC
project idea which involves making netcat-like utility for Rx protocol . I
have a few doubts regarding the same.

# What is the scope of the project?
# Are there any specific features/pain-points that need to be prioritised
in this new tool? (anything missing / extra to be added)
# I have gone through the Rx protocol specifications(doc/txt/rx-spec.txt )
in the github repository and started setting up the project( Fixing errors
that I am getting rn ) . What should be my next steps?
