Hello, All, Here a reminder that cfp’s and discussion theme suggestions are due 04/01. Yes: next Monday! Please don’t delay… To all who observe: wishing you (a) blessed holiday(s) this week. Best wishes, Margarete (Member of the Board of Directors, OpenAFS Foundation) From: E. Margarete Ziemer <[email protected]> Date: Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:09 To: [email protected] <[email protected]>, [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Virtual OpenAFS Workshop 2024 (June 10-12): your input is desired and needed Dear friends of OpenAFS, The Board of the OpenAFS Foundation wants to alert you to the fact that our next virtual Workshop, June 10-12, 2024, is coming up! Here a few highlights to note: * We intend to switch up things a bit when turning from AFS Technologices in the 2023 workshop to this year’s meeting as one that centers on OpenAFS and on topics directly related to interoperability with OpenAFS. * Having said this, all continue to be cordially invited to attend! * Based on your feedback, we want to shift from predominantly presentation-style sessions to a more user-friendly, conversation-based discourse that incorporates shorter as well as longer time slots. * We plan to listen to your repeated and quite vocal calls for having a conference schedule published earlier, so as it aid you in your discerning when and how you wish to participate. * To that end, we must insist on presentation topics with abstracts, or discussion theme suggestions, to be submitted to us no later than 04/01/24 by emailing to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Sorry, this is not an April Fool’s joke, nor is it an attempt to make your life unnecessarily difficult. Rather, this early deadline takes into account that processing your contributions and ideas, as well as composing a viable workshop agenda, takes considerable care and consideration. Thus, we reserve two weeks for that process. It is our intent to put the agenda at your fingertips approximately two months prior to the workshop itself. * If you wish to volunteer by assisting hands-on (with schedule creation and/or workshop mechanics in real time behind-the-stage, etc), we encourage you to raise your hand by emailing to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> * We will communicate registration details at a later date by separate email. We are very much looking forward to your contributions… and to seeing you at the workshop e-rooms in June. Sincerely, Margarete, on the behalf of the Board members
