Sounds like you are making great progress!!!!

As for the LAN traffic, the original info was that OpenDLM was a very
heavy LAN user and that a reasonable performing cluster would need
dedicated Gigabit connections or maybe even Myrinet.

You can do a 2-node cluster with a Gigabit cross-over cable pretty cost
effectively.

For 3+ node clusters I think Gigabit routers are available for about
$100/port. Not cheap, but not outrageous either.
