i took my laptop to a strange network the other day and tried to fire up sfs. it complained immediately (no delay) with a "resource not available". $ sfskey login mark@myhost i tried going manually to port 4, but it connected immediately. nc -v myhost 4 obviously, nc isn't using the sfs protocol, but it did connect immediately, thus indicating to me that it was not a firewall issue. just to be sure, i turned off the fw on my laptop, but had the same results. there were no messages in my laptop logs either. running sfskey with '-v' didn't give but one more message which didn't help. can anyone explain to me why this would happen? how can i avoid it in the future. btw, may laptop was running 0.8 which is known to work with my server. -- Mark Smith mark at winksmith dot com mark at tux dot org nova-instructor at tux dot org F: 775-522-8479
