Hi all,

Thomas and I have discussed possible strategies for merging 0install.net and
0install.de a few times but haven't found the time yet to hammer out the
details.
The main motivation for this is to reduce confusion for first-time users.

As a reminder:
 * 0install.net is an English Website with a focus on the original version
of Zero Install for Linux.
 * 0install.de is an English and German website with a focus on Zero Install
for Windows.

I'd like to run the following proposal by everyone for feedback:
 * Make 0install.net a landing page focused mainly on end-users.
 * Create docs.0install.net to hold documentation for developers and
packagers.
 * Make 0install.de redirect to 0install.net.

I would suggest using the current 0install.de page as the basis for the new
0install.net landing page. It is already mainly focused on end-users. It is
built using WordPress which makes features like localization and contact
forms easy. We would need to add any missing Linux-specific content relevant
to end-users.

I would suggest using the current 0install.net page as the basis for
docs.0install.net. It contains comprehensive documentation and detailed
tutorials. It is built using static HTML generated from XML files, which
makes it well suited to hosting in a Git repo, allowing contributors to
create pull requests for documentation improvements. We would need to add
any missing Windows-specific content relevant to developers and packagers. I
believe having a single tutorial describing how to both build Linux and
Windows feeds would be particularly helpful for beginners.

I'd be willing to provide hosting for both pages.

We'd need to add a fair amount of HTTP redirects to ensure existing links do
not break. The following URIs may require special consideration:
 * http://0install.net/tools/ (Zero Install feeds, cannot change URI)
 * http://0install.net/20XX/interfaces/ (Zero Install feeds, cannot change
URI)
 * http://0install.net/api/report-bug/ (error reporting for Linux, client
may not respect HTTP redirect)
 * http://0install.de/feeds/ (Zero Install feeds, cannot change URI)
 * http://0install.de/files/ (binaries, should probably be redirected)
 * http://0install.de/catalog/ (Zero Install for Windows catalog, client may
not respect HTTP redirect)
 * http://0install.de/sync/ (Sync API for Zero Install for Windows, client
may not respect HTTP redirect)
 * http://0install.de/error-report/ (error reporting for Windows, client may
not respect HTTP redirect)
 * http://0install.de/bootstrap/ (generates bootstrap executables for Zero
Install feeds, should probably be redirected)
 * http://0install.de/teamcity/ (build server, should probably be
redirected)

Regards
Bastian
