tags in reporting

Hello everyone.  This is probably common knowledge to all of you, but I wanted to share a Moneydance success story with you.

I recently created a few temporary tags. They were "Ohio trip" and "DC trip", both representing a business trip and a vacation.  I say "temporary" because in my workflow, I have a few tags that are permanent for my family, but these additional tags were intended only to help me know precisely how much each trip cost.  I intended to delete the tags after the travel and Moneydance reporting was done.

This plan works out really well.  I just used the Transactions report with the following settings:
- all accounts
- subtotal by account (which is really category)
- filter by tag

The power of this method, in my view, is that I can retain the usual categories like food, airfare, etc.  The tag of course allows for very easy sorting into the report.

Anyway, do any of you have similar usage of tags?
