Duplicate Securities

I have a security called "ARTIO INTL EQUITY FUND CL A" with ID ^04315J407 and ticker symbol BJBIX. It's assigned to one of my investment accounts (with Schwab), and is in use there (i.e., it has transactions posted against it).

Today, I downloaded transactions for all my Schwab accounts, and I was asked to match up ARTIO INTL EQUITY FUND CL A with one of my existing securities. The one I already have wasn't in the pop-up list of securities, so I selected "none of the above". Now I have two securities called ARTIO INTL EQUITY FUND CL A with ID ^04315J407, and both are assigned to the same Schwab investment account.

Since this isn't the first time this happens, I know what will happen next: future transactions will post against the new (duplicate) security.

Why doesn't MoneyDance find the existing security, if the name and ID are identical? And why isn't the existing security in the pop-up list of securities to match against?
