Importing QFX file of security positions and transaction?

I recently tried [unsuccessfully :-( ] to import 2009-2011 security
positions and transactions into Moneydance using a QFX file, the only
output option provided by the broker.  Moneydance accepts the file,
recognizes the various securities, but ignores all transactions. Chapter
2 of the Moneydance 2010 User Guide focuses on QIF imports, but does
seem to indicate support of OFX imports.

   1. *Where is the process described for teasing the data out of QFX
      (or OFX) and into Moneydance without using Quicken to generate
      QIF?*  The QIF**import process seems well documented, but not
      OFX-only data sources.  Since my data includes several hundred
      transactions (BUY, SELL, payments of DIV/INTEREST, sweeps to/from
      money market, etc.), manual entry is quite unappealing!
   2. *Do the **security/investment definitions have to be **created
      manually before importing QFX transactions?*  My QFX file has
      definitions for each security (CUSIP, TICKER, etc.) and OFX import
      seems to "know" about the various investments, but doesn't allow
      viewing or editing the information.  It also doesn't import
      transactions.
   3. *Has someone made available an **Extension for Investments similar
      to the Text File Importer (for Checking/Savings) -- or expanded
      the field definitions of the Text File Importer to encompass 
      Investment account fields?*  With a modest amount of effort, I can
      develop edit scripts to extract investment details from my QFX
      file, producing a CSV file.  A Text Import extension to provide
      mapping to the fields described on pages 44-46 of the User Guide
      would seem quite useful, especially if it saves/uses a selectable
      mapping configuration file.
   4. *Does anyone know of a **QFX/OFX to QIF investment conversion
      utility similar to the MT2OFX Bank Statement Converter?*

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.  I *really* don't want to
buy Quicken just to get the QFX to QIF conversion!
