I don't believe the issue is that the Batch Change feature doesn't support asset child accounts. It looks to me like it supports child asset accounts but doesn't support a batch account change to an account in a different currency than the transaction and/or account the transaction is coming from.

I have a test file for MD I use to test something when I'm not sure how it will work. What I did in there was add three accounts as child asset accounts to an existing asset account. Two were in non US dollars (my base currency is USD) and one was in USD. The I added another asset account that wasn't a child to anything. Then I went to a USD credit card account and took a USD transaction and tried to do an account batch change to see what accounts it would bring up as valid for the batch change. It brought up the child asset account in USD but NOT the two that were in other currencies. It also did NOT bring up the asset account I added in another currency that wasn't a child of anything. It brought up all my other asset accounts as valid for the batch change. In summary, it brought
up only asset accounts that were USD accounts and did not bring up any account that was based in another currency. Whether an account was a child asset account or not was irrelevant.

Looks like the issue has to do with currencies and not child asset accounts.

I have created an Asset account named "Foreign Currency." I also
created additional asset accounts named "Euros" "British Pounds"
"Canadian Dollars" and "Mexican Pesos." I made each of those accounts a

Now the problem... In my credit card account I have some transactions
that need to be moved to the "Canadian Dollars" asset account.
Moneydance's Batch Change feature does not support child Asset
accounts. In other words when trying to batch move the transactions
from my credit card account the dropdown in the batch move dialog shows
my bank accounts, child bank accounts, credit accounts, investment
accounts, and asset accounts, but it does NOT show child asset accounts
which prevents me from moving the transactions to the "Canadian
Dollars" asset account. Is there any work around that will move these
transactions to the correct asset account?
