Indeed, I've been bitten by similar issues several times. Luckily, on most of the platforms with which I spend most of my time (OS/2 - now eComStation - and Linux), I have the luxury of multiple virtual desktops, so if something "scrolls off" the bottom of the screen, I can usually see from the window manager where it's gone. I've been rather unimpressed by Windows lack of ability to offer really good virtual desktop functionality (I tried a multiple desktop applet from Microsoft on my wife's machine - I always experiment with the family stuff, first, before turning it loose on clients! - and it was sort of halfway there, but definitely not useful). Anyway, I'm glad you found the crazy thing and got it sized right. When I first upgraded to 2011r2 (from 2008r4), I went to install an extension, and the confirmation dialog trailed down almost to the bottom of the virtual desktop below where I was working!
