And note that this is a big one if you are concerned about someone 
scraping the entire HD content and analyzing it for content they can 
use. There are very few applications which do not have this 
vulnerability. It's possible for applications to indicate memory areas 
which are not to be swapped out, but this is only used for special 
cases. (And I don't know if it's even possible in Java.)

So if you have this level of concern, the only solution I know of is 
whole disk encryption. Personally, I'm not bothering -- but then I don't 
even bother with the encryption that MD offers anyway.
