Select all transactions in category B, right/ctrl-click, Batch Change, Category, select category A from popup, OK. Ah, but how to select them all, especially if they are scattered over several accounts? You need to open the category register, which you can do in either of two ways: 1) right-click any transaction in category B, show other side. 2) Tools -> Categories, right-click category B, Open in New Window. Once you have the category B register open, Select All and follow directions above. Note that Moneydance makes opening the category register somewhat obscure because they find that many users do so accidentally and make changes there which they should have made from the account register, which can mess up their books. So after making the batch change, close the category register.
