Oddly enough, the same procedure also solves bottom-posting. ;-) Seriously, one mailing list I'm on puts in the tag "Quote sparingly, if at all. We all read the previous message". This is the best advice. Only quote the previous message if you plan to interleave quote and reply. (Top-reply with full quoting is often used in business email so that when the message is forwarded, or a recipient is added to the cc list, they can review the history. This serious limitation of email technology does not apply to mailing lists.) Paul, you had the bad luck to pick one of the rare spam messages that reach this list and reply to it. If you had replied to almost any other message in the list, OR if you had followed the above procedure and also deleted the extraneous recipients (as well as changing the subject, which you did), then no one would have noticed. Larry is correct that starting a new message rather than a reply is preferable, for the reasons he explains,, and you can see where doing a reply got you tangled up. But still it was the multiple recipients retained from the spam plus the quoted spam that triggered the negative response. Note also, though, that the best place to get help for MD problems is http://help.infinitekind.com/ which is where you land if you go to http://moneydance.com and click "help". There's a link to the support site at the bottom of every email on this list. Almost all new discussion is taking place there. This list is still going to maintain an alternate channel of communication, but there are only a few of us die-hards left here.
