More generally, MD does not recognize "taxable transfer" or "income transfer" as a transaction type. You have to keep track of it outside of MD. Actually ISTR that someone came up with a workaround, but I don't remember how it worked. It may have involved something like treating the IRA withdrawal as an expense, then setting up an income category for IRA transfers. For each withdrawal, the extraction from the IRA would go to the expense category and a second transaction would be entered manually for the income. This of course requires entering two transactions for each actual withdrawal. Note that most MD support, including user discussions, now occurs on the web support forums. Go to http://moneydance.com and click on "help". The few of us left on this mailing list will certainly try to answer questions -- we are the die-hards -- but there are far more users on the web support forums.
