Indeed. Many times, on various systems.

Not on stock Mint 18, and not on stock Ubuntu 16.04 (or any earlier
version) either. And fontconfig *is* installed, so perhaps it is missing
from the .deb — neither of these directories exists on these systems.

I do have remote access to a couple of older systems (RH/CentOS/Solaris)
so I'll check them.
