Source bonkers or just reading wrong?

I'm out in the boonies and reading source on my cellphone and so maybe I'm reading it *totally* wrong... Can someone peek at fontforge/parsettfbmf.c and tell me if both line 546 else if() and line 557 else if() aren't both testing the exact same thing and at the same level?
