Most/all bug reports for version 20120731 and older are going to more than
likely get ignored since there is more than 1700 updates and patches
between 20120731-b an the current version 20141231. If anyone is patching
those versions, it will be the distros themselves so that they can compile,
but as for the relevant problems withing fontforge itself, there is far too
much changed between that version and the current version.

ensure you have removed older copies of 20120731 before moving to these
released versions since the 2.0 have some libraries that are not compatible
with the older 20120731 versions.

For debian squeeze 6.0 and crunchbag linux (using debian squeeze), I think
you can probably look at using FontForge 20140101 with the least amount of
possible issues building a copy, but there may be users that are running
the latest version (I am not running Debian, therefore please ask first).
