I finally got it to build by specifying c99 and hacking away at some errors but this is ridiculous. The docs are awful and totally non-informative. Having to struggle through a simple operation is indicative of a total lack of care and/or q/c. I would suggest picking up a cheap Sun box and the Sun compiler (it's free for developers) and test this stuff before you send it winging its way into the world. Maybe even have someone who doesn't own a Secret Decoder Ring run through it first. *Anythign* is betetr than trusting gcc and Loonix. "Free and Open Source" is lovely and all but if it means "crap that doesn't work", then I'll stick with proprietary and commercial.
